Hello and welcome to Gales Ferry Karate home of the
Okina Kashi no Ryu (Great Oak Style of Karate).

Whether you are new to the Martial Arts or an experienced Black Belt or Student looking for a new home or if you are Military or Military Family transferring into the New London/Groton area you are invited to join us and find a home that focuses on teaching quality Martial Arts at a reasonable price. GFK is not a gym, so you will not see spandex, gym shoes, aerobics or Cardio-karate we don't teach you how to dance, and "look" like you know karate. We teach the Great Oak Style that is based in a practical scientific approach to applied Martial arts, we also teach Shotokan & Olympic Karate (AAU/WUKO Rules) and are selective in what tournaments we attend.
We respect everyone’s rights and consider all students part of our large and diverse family. All of the Gales Ferry Karate students, Black Belts and Soke Palko would like invite you to come to visit our school and train with us and become part of our family.

DOJO KUN
The Dojo Kun are the 5 precepts created by Shotokan's Founder Gichin Funakoshi. They are recited by all students before and after class to remind all Karate Practicioners that the Martial Arts are not only about building good fighters, but also building good citizens of Good Character, with Self-Confidence, Self-Control and Self-Discipline.

The Dojo Kun is:

Seek perfection of character
Be Faithful
Endeavor
Respect Others
Refrain from Violent Behavior
